Consul General

Miah Md Mainul Kabir, son of late Begum Shamsun Nahar and late Mr. Abul Maleque Miah, was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1970. He completed Secondary and Higher Secondary schooling in Dhaka. He studied English Language and Literature both at Graduate (with honours) and Postgraduate levels at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Kabir joined the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Jeddah on 11 August 2024.

Mr. Kabir joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) as Assistant Secretary in 2003. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked in diverse capacities, dealing with Bangladesh’s relationship in multilateral forums, multilateral economic affairs and bilateral affairs with South and North American, South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, whilst also working in in the Protocol Wing.

Besides the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Mr. Kabir served in different diplomatic ranks in Bangladesh Missions in Seoul, South Korea (from 2005 to 2008), Rome, Italy (from 2008 to 2012), Kolkata, India (from 2013 to 2018) and Ottawa, Canada (from 2018 to 2021).

He has worked as the Director General of Myanmar Wing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2021 looking after Bangladesh-Myanmar bilateral relationship and the Rohingya crisis in bilateral, UN, Multilateral, and Regional forum.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Miah Md Mainul Kabir worked in the Information Cadre of Bangladesh Civil Service from 1999 till 2003 and worked for the largest broadcasting authority of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Betar, as Assistant Director. In earlier roles, he had served as the Assistant Director at the Ministry of Defense, Bangladesh from 1997 to 1999, Development Officer at the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB), Dhaka from 1996 to1997, and as a Lecturer of English at a Higher Secondary Educational Institute in Dhaka in 1996.

Miah Md Mainul Kabir and his spouse, Ms. Nadira Haque, are blessed with two sons, Muztavi Mansiv Kabir and Masroor Mahin Kabir. His hobbies include reading and sports.
